Ronald Koeman targets Premier League goalkeeper to be Everton's number 1

With Ronald Koeman set to be announced as Everton’s manager this week, the Dutchman is already making plans to add to the squad.

Long term first choice ‘keeper Tim Howard finally ended his 9-year association with the club by moving back to his homeland of the USA and joining MLS club Colorado Rapids, leaving Spanish stopper Joel Robles as the clubs main goalkeeper.

However, following new owner Farhad Moshiri promising to make funds available, the new Everton boss is set to make a move for Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, who followed in the footsteps of his famous father, Peter, to win the Premier League.

The People claims that Schmeichel is Koeman’s number one option to fill the void left by Howard, whilst also monitoring the situation surrounding Joe Harts future at Manchester City.

Schmeichel is thought to be happy at Leicester and has no great desire to leave the club, but with speculation surrounding the futures of Jamie Vardy, N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez, Schmeichel could also leave the club if the League winning squad is broken up.
