Real Madrid tell £50million Manchester United target he can leave

Real Madrid are willing to cut their losses on James Rodriguez this summer after the Columbian failed to nail down a regular position in Zinedine Zidanes side.

The 24-year old is a target for Manchester United, and has been told he can leave if they receive an offer of £50million, £15million less than what the European Champions paid back in 2014.

Rodriguez moved from Monaco to Madrid two years ago after some dazzling performances in the World Cup in Brazil, where he scored six goals on his way to claiming the Golden Boot.

Despite an impressive first season at the Bernabeu, he has fallen out of favour under Zinedine Zidane, with him being an unused substitute in last months Champions League final.

A deal to take James to Old Trafford could now be accelerated after Columbia were eliminated from the Copa America. The player shares the same agent as new Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.
