PSG want Guardiola!

Big spending French club Paris Saint-Germain want Man City boss Pep Guardiola to become their next manager.

Having spent £198m on Neymar, and committing a further £166m on Kylian Mbappe, the Ligue 1 leaders want to splash the cash again by bringing in a world class manager who can mould them into European champions too.

The likes of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte have been linked with a move to the Parc des Princes in recent months, with Mourinho never staying at a club past the third season and Conte already saying he is homesick and considering moving on.

However, according to the Daily Mirror, PSG’s prime candidate for their managers role is Man City boss Pep Guardiola.

Like his old foe Jose Mourinho, Guardiola is not known for staying st a club and building a legacy. The Catalan spent four years at Barcelona before spending just three years at Bayern Munich, on each occasion, rejecting new contract offers to stay in order to chase new challenges.

His latest challenge at the Etihad took some getting to grips with, finishing fourth in his first season in the Premier League, before taking the division by storm, romping to a 12 point lead and only dropping seven points all season so far.

PSG are hopeful that they can lure him away from his £15m-a-year deal at City to transform them into European champions.

There is also a further sub plot, PSG being owned by Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) while City are under the control of the Abu Dhabi United Group. The two nations are bitter political and commercial rivals, who severed diplomatic ties with each other last year. Luring Guardiola to cross from one state to another would be a massive coup for Qatar.
