The Daily Mail claim that Middlesbrough are looking at bring Van Persie back to the Premier League after the Dutch striker endured an unhappy season at Turkish club Fenerbahce, who have admitted they are awaiting offers for the 32-year old.
Van Persie made the shock move from Arsenal to Manchester United back in 2012, and his goals propelled Manchester United to their 20th Premier League title in his first season at Old Trafford. It was their last under Sir Alex Ferguson, and Van Persie’s only League title victory.
He was allowed to leave Old Trafford last summer after falling out of favour with Louis van Gaal, despite the Dutch manager making Robin van Persie captain of his Netherlands squad just two years previous.
West Ham and Crystal Palace have also both been linked with making a move for Van Persie, who could be available for just £4million, and now new boys Boro have joined the race for the striker, as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of their first season back in the Premier League.
