Arsenal and Liverpool linked to wantaway Premier League winger

Arsenal and Liverpool are monitoring the situation surrounding Leicester’s wantaway winger, Riyad Mahrez.

Leicester have already knocked back three bids for the Algerian for Italian club Roma, with the latest being for around £32m, with the former Premier League champions wanting £45m.

Mahrez is keen to leave Leicester, having submitted a transfer request at the end of last season, and is thought to be interested by the move to the Serie A club.

However, with Roma struggling to get near Leicester’s asking price, the Daily Star claim that Liverpool and Arsenal are monitoring his situation.

Both clubs are viewing the winger as a potential replacement, should they see big money departures to their squads before next Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Arsenal are battling to keep a hold of Alexis Sanchez, who is wanted by Manchester City, while Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho has handed in a transfer request as he tries to force a move to Barcelona.

Mahrez is a proven Premier League quality player, being instrumental in the Foxes fairytale title win, while winning the PFA Player of the Year award.
