Saido Berahino’s move away from the Hawthorns is nearing a dramatic conclusion, as two Premier League clubs go head-to-head for his signature.
Stoke City had a £20million move for the striker rejected last week, whilst they face stiff competition for the strikers signature from fellow Premier League club Crystal Palace.
Crystal Palace have since come in with a £23million bid for the former England U21 international, with his current club West Bromwich Albion wanting to hold out for £25million.
Stoke Chairman Peter Coates confirmed the potters interest in signing the striker.
[Saido Berahino] is on our list. We would like to do something.
We’re in the hands of the player and West Bromwich Albion at the minute and we’re working away on it. We would like to take him if a deal can be done.
We are after that elusive striker everyone is looking for. Players like to see new faces and the club moving on. Although it might affect their position, they still want to feel you’re improving.
Stoke completed the signing of Joe Allen and Ramadan Sobhi earlier this week, whilst FA Cup finalists Crystal Palace were disappointed on missing out on Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi, who opted to sign for Chelsea.
