Newcastle cancel captains contract

Newcastle United have confirmed that they have cancelled the contract of club Captain Fabrizio Collocini.

The Argentine defender has been with Newcastle for eight years, including during their first spell in the Championship seven years ago.

However, the club have agreed to cancel the defenders contract to allow the 32-year old to move back to his homeland, with a move to San Lorenzo in Argentina’s Premiera Divison.

A statement on the club website read:

In the eight years he has been with us, Colo has become a firm friend and colleague to many players and staff, past and present, who I know will miss him. We wish him all the very best for his future career.
