New Liverpool signing Loris Karius is set to miss the start of the 2016/17 Premier League campaign after suffering a pre-season injury.
The goalkeeper, signed from Bundesliga club Mainz this summer, fractured a bone in his hand during Liverpools 1-0 defeat to Chelsea which has resulted in the German requiring surgery.
The injury is likely to keep the ‘keeper out of action for around 10 weeks, which will come as a bitter blow to both himself and the club as he looks to push Simon Mignolet for the number one jersey at Anfield this season.
To add insult to the injury (pardon the pun), the fracture was sustained during a collision with his own defender, as he came together with former Southampton defender Dejan Lovren.
