Mourinho responds to Sanchez speculation

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho spoke to Sky Sports tonight after his sides comfortable 3-0 victory over Stoke City at Old Trafford, and discussed the club’s move for Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.

The Portuguese coach said:

“No news on Alexis Sanchez, he is an Arsenal player, if he stays it’s great for Arsenal, if he comes to us, great for us, if he goes to another club, great for them.”

“I’ve no idea. Today I was completely separate from all of that – I was just focused on my match and not worried about anything else.

“I’m not going to speak about hypothetical situations. Probably there are other clubs also interested and trying and I shouldn’t talk about a player who is an Arsenal player.”

It was of course revealed yesterday that United are now firm favourites to secure the signature of the Chile international, and his chances of moving to Old Trafford seemingly increased tonight when it was revealed that Manchester City have now pulled out of the race.

Tellingly Mourinho left Armenian playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan out of his squad today, which has increased speculation that he will move to the Emirates as a makeweight in any potential deal.
