Jose Mourinho is believed to be close to taking over as Manchester United manager, and todays reports claim that the Portuguese has instructed Executive Vice-Chairman Ed Woodward to get rid of £64million of talent from the squad.
According to the Daily Mail, Mourinho has instructed Woodward to sell David Moyes’ signings, Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata, the latter of which joined Manchester United after Mourinho gave him the chop from Chelsea in January 2014.
Juan Mata had won the Chelsea Player of the Year for two years on the run, but was surprisingly axed by Mourinho for £37million two years ago. Should Mourinho get the Old Trafford job, it seems history is set to repeat itself, despite the Spaniard being a fan favourite at Old Trafford.
Fellow Moyes signing, £27.5million man, Marouane Fellaini is also set to be given the chop by Mourinho, with the Belgian having struggled to have made an impact at Old Trafford, since his deadline day move from Everton in the Summer of 2013.
Manchester United are set to hand Jose Mourinho a sizeable transfer fund to help strengthen the Manchester United squad that seems set to miss out on Champions League qualification for the second time in three seasons.
