Monaco join the race to sign Alexis Sanchez

Monaco are to make a £45million bid to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal according to reports.

The French Champions have had an exodus of players this summer, with Tiemoue Bakayoko joining Chelsea, while Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva moved to Manchester City. There are also reports that teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe has asked to leave the club, in a potential deal which could reach £160m.

With plenty of cash in the bank, and a depleted squad, The Sun claim that Monaco could make a £45m move for Alexis Sanchez.

Sanchez has been linked with a move to Manchester City this summer, but Arsene Wenger has been resolute in his insistence that the Chilean will not be sold. Sanchez has just 12 months remaining on his contract at the Emirates, and could leave for free next summer if he doesn’t extend his current deal.

However, Monaco’s move could in fact tempt Wenger to sell. Wenger has been chasing Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar, and have also believed to have had a £45m bid rejected.

With both clubs offering the same amount for each other players, could Wenger be tempted to sell up as part of a swap deal? Surely this would be better for both clubs and both players?
