Manchester United to offer Juan Mata in part exchange deal

Juan Mata’s Manchester United career could be coming to an end with reports he could be offered as in a part exchange deal.

Mata moved to Old Trafford back in January 2014, becoming the club’s record transfer at the time in a £37.5m move from Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea.

Since Mourinho followed him to Manchester in the summer of 2016, the speculation surrounding the future of the Spaniard has always suggested he will be once again sold by the Portuguese.

In the latest departure speculation, reports in Italian publication Corriere dello Sport claim that Manchester United will offer the 29-year-old to his former club Inter Milan as part of a part exchange deal for Joao Mario.

The Italian club feel like the 24-year-old’s performances have not come up to standard since his €40m move from Sporting Lisbon 18 months ago and would be ready to listen to offers.

However the report claims that Mata isn’t keen on the move, and has already admitted he is keen to extend his stay beyond the end of his current deal which expires in the summer, although United do have an option to extend it by a further year.

Inter would also be willing to have fellow Manchester United playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan included in any deal for Mario. The Armenian has struggled for form since moving from Borussia Dortmund in 2016 and could leave the club.
