Manchester United to miss out as Inter Milan move for James Rodriguez?

Just hours after apparently being beaten to the the signing of Bernardo Silva, Manchester United could also be about to miss out on James Rodriguez too.

This is according to reports in Italy that claim Inter Milan are close to sealing the double signing of Rodriguez and Pepe.

Pepe is out of contract at the end of the season, and despite having being offered a one year extension at the Bernabeu, he could choose to move to the San Siro instead where they are offering him a two-year deal.

He could be joined in Milan by his Real Madrid teammate Rodriguez, who has fallen down the pecking order at Los Blancos. This has lead to speculation that should Manchester United qualify for the Champions League, which they did by winning the Europa League, then he would make a £50m move to Old Trafford.

However, Inter Milan have the financial clout to compete with the Premier League clubs following their recent Chinese takeover, and chiefs are confident that they can pull off a deal for the Columbian.

Rodriguez moved to Madrid back in 2014 after being the Player of the Tournament in the Brazil World Cup. He made the €75m move the Bernabeu but has since fallen behind the likes of Isco and Marco Asensio in the Real Madrid pecking order.

Where will Rodriguez be plying his trade next season? Who should Manchester United be targeting this summer? Leave us a comment below.
