Manchester United have been linked with making a shock move for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey this summer, if their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan fails.
The Sun claims that Ramsey, who can play both centrally and out wide, will be Mourinho’s back up option if a £28million move for the Armenian midfielder doesn’t come off. Borussia Dortmund are thought to be adamant that they are not selling, whilst the players agent seems to be more confident that he can secure a deal.
However, a whopping £50million Manchester United move for Ramsey would not only be a shock, but would be a way for Jose Mourinho to wind up his old sparring partner Arsene Wenger. Mourinho believes that Ramsey, 25, could be his new Frank Lampard for Manchester United
Ramsey is currently on international duty with Wales, where they secured top spot in Group B and setting up a last-16 tie with Northern Ireland.
