Manchester United midfielder to be offered new deal

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is ready to offer a new contract to one of the clubs key midfielders.

Marouane Fellaini has been a revelation under Mourinho, who has selected the Belgian for both of the clubs opening Premier League games of the season.

According to The Sun, the Manchester United boss has told Fellaini that if his impressive performances continue over the coming months, then he will be rewarded with a new two-year contract.

A Manchester United source told the newspaper:

Jose is on record that Marouane has to win over the fans with his performances.

He likes him a lot, and thinks that he is a very good player and useful to the team and the squad.
There will be no rush and United will wait for the nod by Jose, which could be at renewal time around Christmas.

It could be a remarkable turnaround for him, as he looked to be on his way out of the club this summer.

Fellaini was Manchester United’s first signing of the post Sir Alex Ferguson era after he teamed up back up with former Everton boss David Moyes in a £27.5million deal.

Despite a healthy return of 11 goals in 89 games for United, the Belgian has been widely criticised by United fans, something that Mourinho was keen to extinguish last week.

With Fellaini I always have the feeling that he was not loved by the general Red people.

But, if he plays like he’s playing now, they have to love him because he’s being so important for us.
