Manchester United dealt blow as Sergio Ramos agrees new Madrid contract

Manchester United’s hunt for a new centre-back will continue, but that defender will not be Sergio Ramos. According to reports in Spain, the Spanish centre-back will sign a new deal at Real Madrid until 2020, worth a huge €10million a year.

There is no doubt that Manchester United have been played by Ramos and his agent to get a new contract at Madrid, and whilst the thought of him running out at the Theatre of Dreams was an exciting one, sadly it looks as though its not going to happen.

On the flip side, Madrid’s refusal to sell us Ramos probably means that United will keep hold of David de Gea for another year which is a huge plus for Louis van Gaal and his men.
