Manchester United dealt blow as Lacazette pens new deal

Manchester United lost two key strikers in the form of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao this summer, which leaves the club extremely short in the striker role, especially given when Wayne Rooney picks up his perennial injury that’ll keep him out for around a month or so.

One player thought to be on their radar was Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette who finished up the season as Ligue 1 top scorer last time around, but that deal looks extremely unlikely now, as the Frenchman has signed a new contract at his current club until 2019.

“People can stop talking [about me],” Lacazette said. “Now I hope we will only talk because I am scoring goals and winning games with Lyon.

“I let it be known my wish to stay at the club and to refuse any outside offer.

“The important thing for me was not whether I would extend my contract or not, but to stay at the club. I knew that I was going to stay here.”

Lacazette has scored 70 goals in 186 Lyon appearances.

Would Lacazette be a good signing? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
