Manchester United confident of beating Chelsea to secure £45m transfer

Manchester United are confident of landing Tottenham Hotspur left back Danny Rose next summer in a £45m transfer.

Rose was linked to Manchester United earlier this summer, especially after the England International publicly criticised Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and the club’s strict wage structure which see’s even the club’s top earner Harry Kane earn around £100,000-a-week.

After his lengthy rant about his employers, which was seen as a way to force a move, Rose was forced to apologise for his comments, and denied a potential transfer.

However, according to the Daily Star, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is still keen on signing the 27-year-old next summer.

The article claims Chelsea are also interested in signing the full back, but Manchester United are confident in landing the player, who would prefer to work under Jose Mourinho.

A source told the newspaper:

“The lure of United is too strong for him and if he had the choice he would pick United hands down.”

The potential move to Old Trafford would be likely to be worth around £45m, with Rose easily being able to double his current salary that is thought to be worth around £75,000-a-week.

A deal for Rose could be made easier with the inclusion of Luke Shaw. Shaw returned to full fitness last month, but has failed to regain his place as the club’s first choice left back. Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is thought to be interested in working with the youngster having worked with him at Southampton.

Rose has not featured since suffering a serious knee injury back in zjanuary, but is set to return within a few weeks.
