Manchester clubs set to battle it out for signature of English star

Manchester United and Manchester City are looking likely to go head-to-head to sign one of England’s best prospects this summer; Everton’s John Stones. According to The Times, the 21-year old would prefer to stay in the North-West, rather than move abroad or down South.

This is a huge boost to the northern clubs who are interested in signing him, but they’ll still have to pay in excess of £40million to make the move happen, which would be a massive gamble.

At this point in time the eventual buyer of Stones is investing in talent rather than prove quality, and the fee is so high purely because of the fact that he is English, and clubs do tend to pay a premium for that.
