Manchester City want to make Premier League star Dimitri Payet their first signing of the Pep Guardiola era, and are planning on making a £30million move for the midfielder.
Reports in The Sun today claim that City want to sign the West Ham star as part of a major squad overhaul at the Etihad, as they look to build a side capable of competing in both England and Europe.
The 28-year old only joined West Ham in the summer, in a £10million move from Marseille, but has made an instant impact in the Premier League with a series of dazzling performances.
Payet, who has also been linked with a big money move to China, has already been offered an improved deal at West Ham as the club try to keep him out of the clutches of the big boys. Payet is said to be happy playing for the East London club, but the draw of Champions League football could prove to be too much.
Arsenal and Chelsea are also interested in Frenchman, but West Ham will do everything in their power to ensure that Payet is the star attraction next season, ahead of their move to the Olympic Stadium in the summer.
