Manchester United are close to completing the signing of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea according to the latest reports today.
Matic has been linked with a move to Manchester United for a number of months, and is apparently very keen on reuniting with Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho brought Matic back to Chelsea in 2014, and was an integral part in Chelsea’s title winning season in the pair’s first full season back at the club.
The two clubs have been locked in negotiations for several weeks, with Chelsea originally reluctant to do business with United, especially after missing out on Romelu Lukaku’s signing from Everton.
However, Roman Abramovic stepped in to sanction the deal, and despite reports in today’s newspapers that arrangements of any potential performance related bonuses still needing to be sorted, the deal is now claimed to be close.
These claims are made by well connected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio. He claims that United are ‘one step away from the deal’.

Matic was left out of Chelsea’s preseason tour of Asia and is already believed to have agreed personal terms with United, with Juventus also believed to have been interested.
Mourinho will be hoping to get the deal completed within a week, ahead of Manchester United’s UEFA Super Cup fixture against Real Madrid in Macedonia next Tuesday.
