Arsenal seem to be at the heart of every transfer story this month with a plethora of names being linked with moves to or from the Emirates, and this article is no different I’m afraid.
With Sanchez gone, all the speculation has been who will replace the Chilean, despite the straight swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang seems to be the most popular and wanted option, although Borussia Dortmund aren’t making it easy for the Gunners.
But could Leicester wideman Riyad Mahrez be an alternative? Well he certainly has been linked in the past, in fact, he has pretty much been linked with a move to the Emirates in every transfer window since Leicester’s amazing title win back in 2016.
However, the Algerian has sent transfer speculation into meltdown over night after he was spotted at the Emirates for Arsenal’s 2-1 Carabao Cup victory over Chelsea at the Emirates on Wednesday evening.
The 26-year-old was captured on video sneaking out of the stadium by fans who had left early, prompting speculation he was there to watch his potential new teammates in action.
Mahrez has been in excellent form this season, scoring eight goals and providing six assists in his 24 appearances for the Foxes this season, interestingly, much better than the man who he could be replacing, Alexis Sanchez, who scored seven and made just three assists in the Premier League this season.
Would Mahrez be a good option for Arsenal? Who would be better, Mahrez or Aubameyang? Leave a comment below.
