Liverpool target, Alex Teixeira will be going nowhere until the summer, when it will cost €70million (£53million) to activate the Brazilians release clause.
Liverpool bid around £25million last week but that was rejected by Teixeira’s club, Shakhtar Donetsk. Liverpool may return with an improved bid, but it will most likely fall well short of Shakhtars valuation of the player.
Shakhtar Donetsk general manager, Sergiy Palkin said;
Liverpool stopped after an offer of €32m and a €4m bonus. This is the last number that was announced.
Our position is that we do not want to sell Teixeira today. We will sell him only at the end of the season. We need to have some good results in the Europa League and the Ukraine championship. At the end of the season we will sit down at the negotiating table.
Teixeira has a compensation charge in his contract – the price is €70m. Please, if someone wants him – let them come and declare themselves.
Earlier this week, Teixeira told Football Faithful partners, Anfield HQ, that he would be an honour to play for Liverpool. You can still all read all of Teixeira’s comments in our interview exclusive.
