Liverpool reject £72m bid

Liverpool have rejected a £72m bid from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho.

The Liverpool Echo claim that the Reds ‘instantly rejected’ the bid from the Spanish giants and told them “you are wasting your time”.

Liverpool consider the 25-year-old playmaker is not for sale at any price!

Jurgen Klopp wants to build a side around the gifted Brazilian, who only signed a new five year, £150,000-a-week deal back in January, and does not intend to sell him no matter how much Barcelona offer.

Speaking at a press conference in Hong Kong, Klopp was asked if Coutinho is considered as ‘not for sale’. He responded:

“Yes, we can say that. But that’s not since this morning or yesterday, that’s not been different at any time”

Barcelona have long been linked with having an interest in Coutinho, who is known to be good friends with fellow Brazilian, Neymar, who himself has been linked with a move away from the Nou Camp.

Coutinho also recently expressed his desire to stay at the club for the long term:

“Stay here and they will end up building a statue in your honour,

“Go somewhere else, to Barcelona, to Bayern Munich, to Real Madrid, and you will be just another player. Here you can be something more. I have a long contract with Liverpool.”
