Liverpool legend reveals Salah has set 40 goal target

Legendary Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has admitted that he has been surprised by the amazing form of the club’s summer signing Mohamed Salah.

The 25-year-old was signed from Serie A side AS Roma for £40 million last June, and has gone to surpass even the most optimistic of Red’s fans expectations, netting an incredible 30 goals in all competitions so far this season.

Fowler, who is a now an ambassador for the Anfield club, revealed that Salah has set himself a target of how many goals he wants to finish the season with, when he told Sky Sports News:

“That is the aim of his [to reach 40 goals], it’s unbelievable what he’s achieved so far.

“I don’t think anyone could’ve envisaged what would’ve happened. I think everyone knew he was a good player, but to get where he is at the speed he’s done – it’s frightening. I’m a Liverpool fan, I want Liverpool to score loads of goals, I want him to score loads of goals. I want Liverpool to be successful and if he keeps doing that it means we are on to something pretty good.”

To be fair if Salah remains fit for the rest of the season, it would take a brave man to bet against him reaching his target. The Egypt international’s goal scoring exploits are all the more sensational when you consider that he plays as a winger and not a central striker.
