Liverpool ‘confident’ of landing £50m midfielder

It’s getting towards that time of the season where clubs are looking ahead at their summer transfer plans, and despite the World Cup in Russia, there will be plenty of big money deals going ahead.

One of the clubs that are expected to be active in the market this summer is Liverpool, but reports today suggest that the Reds are already ‘confident’ of landing one of their transfer targets.

Liverpool have spent the last 12 months or so trying to tie Germany international Emre Can down to a new deal, but to little avail, and with just three months left to run on his current deal at Anfield, he is widely expected to join Juventus, although Bayern Munich are also said to be interested.

This situation has left Jurgen Klopp looking at potential replacements for the midfielder, and Napoli midfielder Jorginho is thought to be high on his list.

The Brazilian born Italy international has also attracted attention from the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal in recent months, as they also look to bolster their respective midfield departments.

However, according to the Daily Mirror today Liverpool are the favourites to land his signature “if it comes down to a straight fight between the trio”.

The 26-year-old has been a consistently high performer for Napoli this season, who are the surprise package in Serie A this season, sitting just two points behind Juventus in the table with nine games remaining.
