Juventus close in on Bayern Munich defender

Juventus are close to completing a one-year loan deal for Bayern Munich defender Mehdi Benatia according to reports in Italy.

Turin based Tuttosport claim that the Serie A champions will make a move for the 29-year old centre back, after the defender has become irritated at his lack of action at Bayern Munich, a problem that will only get worse with the arrival of Mats Hummels.

The Morrocan has made just 46 appearances at the Bavarian club since his move from Roma two-years ago, winning two Bundesliga titles in that time. However, he will now attempt to edge past Italian trio of Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Barzagli when he completes his switch back to Serie A with Champions Juventus.
