Jose Mourinho tells Manchester United: Give me the job. I can change

Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has written a six-page love letter to Manchester United, where he explains his strong desire to manage the club and how he would be willing to adhere to United’s principles, according to a report in The Independent

Mourinho, who was sacked by Chelsea last month, is widely believed to have coveted the Old Trafford hot seat for many years, and the Portuguese manager has launched ‘a detailed charm offensive’ in an attempt of finally securing his dream job of managing United.

Manchester United slipped to another defeat yesterday, 1-0 at the hands of Southampton, and the players and managers left the field to a chorus of boos from those fans who had waited as long as the final whistle.

Despite Mourinho wanting the job as soon as possible, he is being cautious and professional in regards to the current Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal, who he worked with at Barcelona between 1997 and 2000.

Sir Alex Ferguson is known to be a big fan of Mourinho, whereas fellow Old Trafford legend Sir Bobby Charlton isnt convinced that Mourinho is in sync with the DNA of Manchester United.

Manchester United fans have been brought up on exhilarating, offensive and expansive football, whilst bringing through a plethora of youngsters. None of these traits line up with Mourinho’s past records. However, they are both Synonymous with success.

Mourinho was a candidate to take over from Sir Alex in 2013 but his abbrasive character and his above short comings put many people in the Old Trafford boardroon off. However, two-and-a-half years of mediocrity later, many of those views have softened, and Mourinho has the job in his sights once more.

Mourinho, via his agent Jorge Mendes, has penned a six-page letter to the Old Trafford hierarchy, setting out his plans should he get given his chance.

The Portuguese managers ‘lengthy document’, emphasises just how much he wants the job and how he would be willing to adapt his style to meet United’s principles.

In his letter, Mourinho also presented a forensic analysis of this season’s team. The Portuguese has gone through every area of the current squad, offering extensive thoughts on what could be improved as well as making suggestions about potential signings that could help strengthen the squad.

Mourinho believes his efforts and attention to detail will eventually lead him to Old Trafford, however he is said to be “relaxed” about his future.
