John Stones gives Manchester clubs hope as he sensationally turns down Barcelona move

John Stones has snubbed the opportunity to move to Barcelona this summer, giving hope to both Manchester City an Manchester Unuted in the race to sign the Everton defender.

The Daily Mail claims that the Spanish Champions met with Stones’ representative Paul Martin last week, offering the Everton centre back terms of £90,000-a-week.

However, the former Barnsley defender has apparently rejected the offer, leaving the door open to both Manchester clubs who are keen on signing the 22-year old.

Manchester City are apparently at the front of the queue to sign Stones, despite them being keen on signing Athletic Bilbao  defender Aymeric Laporte.

Manchester United completed the signing of Eric Bailly earlier this week, but are still hopeful of signing another defender, with Jose Mourinho an admirer of the Everton defender. Mourinho tried to sign Stones last summer whilst at Chelsea, with the defender putting in a transfer request to join up with the Portuguese.
