Inter Milan confirm they want Arsenal star

Inter Milan have confirmed that are interested in signing Arsenal playmaker Mesut Özil.

Özil has just nine months remaining on his current deal at the Emirates, and is stalling on signing a new contract, meaning he could leave the club for free next summer.

However, with the prospect of losing their once record club signing for free, could prompt Arsenal to cash in during the January transfer window.

Inter Milan president Erick Thohir confirmed that the club were interested in 28-year-old, but added previous experiences in the January transfer window, could prevent them from making a move:

“He [Ozil] is definitely one of those players we are looking at but the last January signings of [Lukas] Podolski and [Xherdan] Shaqiri proves winter signings can fail to live up to expectations.”

Özil has been linked with a move Manchester United, where he is reportedly keen to be reunited with Jose Mourinho. The German spent three years working with the Portuguese during his three years at Real Madrid, before making his £42.5m to join the Gunners.
