Hodgson declares Crystal Palace star fit ahead of Chelsea clash

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has been handed a huge boost this week with the news that Wilfred Zaha is fit.

It has been a truly horrific start to the Premier League campaign for Crystal Palace, who are without a point, and without a goal to their name after seven games. It is a run of form that has seen them already onto their second manager of the season after Frank de Boer was sacked after just four games.

Since then, Palace’s fixture list has thrown them no lifelines, shipping nine goals without reply in fixtures against Manchester giants, City and United, before this weekend’s fixture against reigning champions, Chelsea.

However, Roy Hodgson’s hopes of getting a result against Antonio Conte’s have been given a boost.

The former England boss has confirmed that Wilfred Zaha is back in contention after being missing since getting injured in the opening match of the season:

“He’s trained now for two weeks so the international break has been very good for us in that respect.

“He trained from the Monday and ever since, so there’s no reason why I shouldn’t consider him tomorrow.

“He’s a good player and also someone in the past who has made some very important moves and done some very important things for Crystal Palace so I think all the fans will be pleased to see him back on the field.”

The game against Chelsea kicks off at 15:00 BST at Selhurst Park.
