Guardiola calls Man United v Liverpool game a ‘classic.’

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has described tomorrows fixture between Manchester United and Liverpool as being one of the classic fixtures in the English footballing calendar.

The former Barcelona coaches side do not play until Monday night when they face Stoke at the Bet365 Stadium.

Guardiola also revealed that despite his side having a 16 point lead at the top of the Premier League with just nine games remaining, he is completely focused on securing the points required to become Champions as soon as possible.

“United-Liverpool is a big derby, a classic in England. One of the most exciting games by far.

“The distance is not normal. It is almost done for us but we are not the champions. That is Chelsea.

“We have to get the points as soon as possible.”

Guardiola was widely reported to have been about to sign a new contract at the Etihad after his sides Carabao Cup Final victory over Arsenal recently, but he today denied that any such deal has been completed.
