On loan Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao looks set to stay at Stamford Bridge for the remainder of the season, after his parent club Monaco ruled out the possibility of his loan deal being terminated.
Speculation of Falcao’s imminent return to the Côte d’Azur surfaced this week when the 29 year old was spotted at Monaco’s training ground, however, it seems he was only there to undergo checks on the thigh injury that has prevented him playing, since his last appearance in October.
Monaco vice-president, Vadim Vasilyev said;
Falcao is currently injured. He has 6 to 8 weeks to go like that. We have decided not to take him back to Monaco for the moment.
Falcao’s current loan spell with Chelsea is the latest in a line of disappointments for the Columbian striker. Last year, when he was on the comeback trail, his loan spell at Manchester United also flopped after he struggled for form and goals. This season has not improved, scoring just 1 goal all season and falling behind Diego Costa and Loic Remy in the Chelsea pecking order.
Falcao signed for Monaco in 2013 for £52m, but suffered a terrible knee injury that kept him out of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. His current contract with Monaco expires in 2018.
