Everton have been linked with a number of defenders this summer as they prepare for life without John Stones, who is set to make to Manchester City in a £50million mega move.
The latest linked with a move to Goodison Park is Sunderland defender Lamine Kone, with the Blues ready to offer £14million for the 27-year olds services.
Kone only arrived at the Stadium of Light in January, helping Sam Allardyce’s Sunderland survive the drop once again and extend their Premier League stay into their tenth year.
Everton have also been linked with a much more costly move for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, who has been subject to a £38million bid by Chelsea.
Kone could be a more realistic option, with new Sunderland manager David Moyes maintaining good links with the Blues following his ten-year stint in charge at Goodison Park.
