Everton make a move for Saints defender

Everton continue to prepare for life without John Stones after making a move for Southampton defender Jose Fonte.

The Portuguese defender was an integral part in his countries Euro 2016 triumph last month, and has been linked winked with making a move away from St Marys this summer.

Manchester United have been linked with making a move for the 32-year old as they look to add experience to their defensive ahead of the upcoming season.

However, Ronald Koeman has made the first move, making a £9million move for a player who he worked with at Southampton over the past two seasons at the South Coast club.

John Stones is expected to make a big money move to Manchester City this summer, leaving the Blues with with just Phil Jagielka and Ramiro Fuenes Mori as first choice centre backs.
