Euro 2016: Day Six Round-Up

The first round of games finished on Day Five, and Day Six saw the start of teams playing their second group game of the tournament, as well as the first team to book their places in the knockout phase.

Russia 1-2 Slovakia, Group B

Russia were defeated by Slovakia leaving their place in this summers tournament under threat, dropping to the bottom of Group B. Vladimir Weiss and Marek Hamsik scored to give Slovakia a 2-0 lead before Denis Glushakov scored a late consolation point.

Romania 1-1 Switzerland, Group A

Bogdan Stancu gave the Romanians an early lead from the spot, but Admir Mehmedi salvaged a point for the favourites and maintain their spot in second place in the group with four points. Romania sit in third following their two draws in the tournament.

France 2-0 Albania, Group A

The hosts booked their place in the last 16 of the tournament with a late late victory over Group A minnows Albania, who held on until the 90th minute, before Atletico Madrid forward Antonie Griezmann broke their hearts. Deep into stoppage time, West Ham midfielder Dimitri Payet scored a second to seal the victory, and take the French to six points in the group and certain to be in the next round.
