The FA cup 3rd round weekend is one of the highlights of the footballing calendar, as the successful sides from round 2, are joined by big boys of the Premier League. Usually there are numerous cup upsets as the lower league clubs battle for glory against the countries top teams.
Exeter City managed a well deserved 2-2 draw against 7 times FA Cup winners, Liverpool, whilst Manchester United had to wait until a 93rd minute Wayne Rooney penalty to defeat League 1 team, Sheffield United.
The biggest shock of the round however has to be Oxford United’s stunning 3-2 victory over struggling Premier League side, Swansea City. Current FA holders, Arsenal meanwhile, cruised into round 4 with a 3-1 victory of Sunderland.
Premier League strugglers Aston Villa will have to settle for a replay after they could only manage a 1-1 draw against Wycombe Wanderers. Fellow midland side West Bromwich Albion will also have to replay their fixture following their 2-2 draw at home to Bristol City.
Harry Kane’s late penalty means that Premier League high flyers Tottenham and Leicester City will have to play out a replay following their 2-2 draw.
Chelsea, Manchester City and Everton all sailed into the 4th round draw too, following their comfortable victories.
