Done Deal: Wolves smash transfer record fee

On Saturday Wolverhampton Wanderers broke their transfer record fee, as the club signed Ruben Neves from FC Porto for a reported £15 million.

Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers signed Ruben Neves from FC Porto for £15 million, smashing breaking the club’s transfer record fee. Just last year Neves attracted interest from the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea, however the youngster will now play in the second-tier of English football.

Additionally it was also reported that Neves had signed a five-year deal with the Midlands club, where he is also reported to be on a £40,000 a-week deal.

Last season Neves made 18 appearances for Porto. Once again Neves reunites with boss Nuno Espirito Santo, who was in-charge at Porto when Neves played for the club.

Upon signing for Wolves, Neves stated the following speaking to the official club website:

“I have always wanted to play in England and we have a good team. I think we can do good things this season. It is also a good opportunity for me to work again with a trainer I worked with last year. I am very excited to start and to play in front of the fans – I love that.”

Wolves fans: Are you pleased with this signing? What can Neves bring to the side? Let us know your thoughts.
