Norwich City have completed the signing of Northern Ireland goalkeeper Michael McGovern following a string of impressive displays at Euro 2016.
The ‘keeper caught the eye in this summers tournament in France, in particular in the game against World Champions Germany, where he pulled off a number of important saves to keep the score to just 1-0, a result which was the Green and White Army progress to the knockout stages of the tournament.
The Irishman was a free agent after his contract at Hamilton Academicals in Scotland expired earlier this summer and moves to Carrow Road on a free transfer, where he will work with his former manager Alex Neil once again.
I had some interest from elsewhere, but I’m really looking forward to working with him again now at Norwich.
It’s nice to join a club where I’ll have some familiar faces around me.
I’m aiming to get into the team, but I know I’m up against some top-class goalkeepers. It’s going to be intense competition, although it’s a challenge I’ll relish.
