DONE DEAL: Newcastle sign Townsend

Newcastle United have this evening completed the signing of England and Tottenham winger, Andros Townsend on a five-and-a-half year deal.

The two clubs have been in talks for weeks over the potential transfer and the £12million deal was finally completed today.

Townsend has not featured for Spurs in over 3 months and has fallen out of favour with Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochetino.

Townsend said;

Newcastle is a fantastic club with great fans, a great stadium and great tradition.

As soon as I heard Newcastle were interested in me, there was only one place I wanted to go so I can’t wait to get started.

Townsends arrival in the North East most likely paves the way for French flop, Florian Thauvin to leave.
