DONE DEAL: Newcastle sign former Sunderland defender

Newcastle United have completed the £5million signing of DeAndre Yedlin from Tottenham Hotspur.

Yedlin replaces Daryl Janmaat who confirmed his transfer to Watford earlier today.

The American will be used to life in the North-East after spending last season on loan at Newcastle’s bitter local rivals, Sunderland.

Yedlin said:

Newcastle is such a big and historic club, and I’m excited to have the honour of playing for them. Hopefully I can do great things here.
I’m excited to learn under Rafa Benitez as well. He has an amazing résumé and I know he will help improve me a lot.
I can’t wait to get started.

He has signed a five year deal at the club.
