Done Deal: Manchester United complete first summer signing

Manchester United have confirmed they have completed their first signing of the summer with the acquisition of Victor Lindelof.

The central defender moves to Old Trafford on a £31million deal from Portuguese club Benfica.

Manchester United reportedly targeted the Swedish defender back in January but a deal was not able to be completed. However Jose Mourinho has finally got his man.

Speaking to the club website, Lindelof said:

“I am thrilled to be joining Manchester United. I have enjoyed my time at Benfica enormously and I have learned a lot there. But I’m looking forward to playing in the Premier League at Old Trafford and for Jose Mourinho. I’m keen to get started and make my contribution to the team’s efforts to win more trophies.”

Lindelof has signed a four-year deal with the option of a further year.
