Long standing Liverpool transfer target Alex Teixeira has completed a €50million (£38.4m) transfer to Chinese club, Jiangsu Suning, smashing the Chinese transfer record for the third time in just 10 days.
Teixeira completes his move from Shakhtar Donetsk just weeks after declaring his desire to join Liverpool in an Exclusive interview with Football Faithful’s partner blog, Anfield HQ, where he declare;
It would be an honour defend the Liverpool Shirt
However following his transfer to Jiangsu Suning, Teixeira becomes the most expensive signing in China, eclipsing the £31m transfer of Jackson Martinez to Guangzhou Evergrande earlier this week.
Teixeira joins former Chelsea star, Ramires, at Jiangsu.
The Brazilian had been linked with a transfer to Anfield all throughout the January transfer window, and expressed his desire to move. Liverpool were said to have made a bid of around £24million, but that fell well short of Shakhtar’s valuation of the player. Since then, the transfer windows around Europe have closed, putting the Chinese club free to pounce, as their transfer window is open until 26th February.
