Everton have completed their second signing of the day with the addition of Ajax captain Davy Klaasen.
The deal to take Klaasen to Goodison Park is worth €27million (£23.6m). The deal takes their spending for the day to £53.6m following the £30m club record signing of Jordan Pickford from Sunderland earlier today.
The Dutchman is a hardworking and creative midfielder, and was recently involved in the Europa League final defeat to Manchester United in Stockholm.
He scored 20 goals in 48 games for the Dutch giants last season, as they finished second in the Eredivisie.
Speaking after the transfer, the 24-year-old said:
“I spoke a few weeks ago with Ronald Koeman about Everton. I wanted to come here and check if this was the right club for me and since I came here I feel so happy. It’s a great club,
“It’s difficult to leave Ajax but I think this is a good step for me now.”
Klaasen has signed a five-year deal at Everton.
