Just moments after Dwight Gayles move to Newcastle was completed, Andros Townsend was confirmed as Crystal Palace’s first summer signing.
The Premier League club confirmed that they have completed a £13million deal for the 24-year old, who only joined Newcastle six-months ago, where he scored four goals in 13 appearances for the Magpies, but was unable to save the Toon Army from relegation to the Championship.
After moving back to London, Townsend said;
I’m extremely delighted. I had chats with the manager and the chairman before I signed and aim pleased to be a part of Crystal Palaces future. By the sounds of things it’s going to be a bright one and I can’t wait to get started.
Townsend, who narrowly missed out on England’s Euro 2016 squad, has signed a five-year deal at Selhurst Park.
