Premier League newcomers have completed the £6million signing of Steven Defour.
The Belgian midfielder has completed his move from Anderlecht to finally move to the Premier League, seven years after being tracked by Sir Alex Ferguson before a serious injury denied him the chance to join Manchester United.
Since then, his career path took him from Standard Liege, to FC Porto and back to his home country to play for Anderlecht.
However the midfielder has suffered abuse from his own fans, prompting his departure from the club, where he has joined last seasons Championship winners, signing a three-year contract at Turf Moor.
Sean Dyche will be hoping that Defour can can fill the void left by Joey Barton, who left the club this summer to join Scottish Premiership side Rangers this summer after his contract at the club expired.
Defour is expected to play in Burnley’s second Premier League of the season next weekend where his experience will be needed in the game against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side.
