Coutinho flattered by Barcelona interest

Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho is flattered that Barcelona are interested in signing him.

The Brazilian has been in excellent for Liverpool since his arrival from Inter Milan in 2013.

This has reportedly sparked interest for La Liga giants Barcelona, and Coutinho is happy to be linked to them as it means he is on the right track and playing well, but insists he is happy at Anfield.

Speaking to ESPN Brazil, Coutinho said:

“Barcelona is one of the best teams in the world, so far, nothing has come to me, because if anything comes, it comes to my manager, what I have to do is focus on the pitch.

“I have a contract with Liverpool, there are two games, there are a lot of chances for us to be in the Champions League next year.

“What I have to do is focus on football and those things are resolved by the business people.

“I’m happy to know that a great club has an interest, it’s cool, for the recognition of their work, what I have to do is keep working hard.
“Liverpool is a great club and we have to put Liverpool back in the Champions League.”

Liverpool are indeed on course to qualify for Europes premier competition, and a win in their final game of the season against already relegated Middlesbrough will secure their Champions League place.

Coutinho scored two, and created one as Liverpool comfortably beat West Ham 4-0 on Sunday.
