Conte refuses to rule out move for £53m midfielder

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has refused to rule out a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal.

The Italian was asked about if he was interested in signing the 30-year-old midfield, following speculation linking the Blues with a move for the Chilean. Speaking after Boxing Day’s 2-0 win over Brighton, Conte insisted that he wasn’t not going to speak about a player who belonged to another club. He said:

“I don’t speak about players from other teams’ card.

“I must be honest, it’s not right to talk about a player of another team. Especially if you try to link this player with us.”

However, he did then go on to hint that he would be interested in signing him if he were available.

“But Arturo is a fantastic player, I have a great respect for Arturo, and we spent many years in Juventus together.

“If we go to war, I’d always want him with me.”

Chelsea have been linked with making a £53m move for the midfielder as the January transfer window approaches.
