Antonio Conte has refused to rule out the possibility of him leaving Chelsea before the start of next season.
The Italian has cut an unhappy figure since the summer after Chelsea failed to land a number of transfer targets and has been linked with a number of jobs around Europe.
He was linked with taking over at AC Milan in the summer, while he has since been linked to the manager’s jobs at Real Madrid, Juventus, and most recently PSG.
Speaking in his prematch press conference, Conte refused to say if he would still be in charge at Stamford Bridge next season:
“In football, anything can happen and you must be ready,
“I have a lot of experience to deal with this situation. I trust in my work and what we are doing in these two seasons
“I am happy and enjoying my time here. It wasn’t easy because it was not easy for me as it was my first experience in another country.
“For sure I have another year of contract and in this case I think the club has to decide to send me away. We have started our work here.
“When you start the work, you need time to improve your work and have solid basis. Football now is very difficult if you can predict if you stay for many years in one club.
“England is changing this equation. Before managers were in charge for many years, but now in England it is habit to sack early.”
Will Antonio Conte be in charge of Chelsea at the start of the 2018/19 season?
