City to beat United after agreeing deal to sign midfielder

After having been beaten by their Manchester rivals to sign Alexis Sanchez, City are set to get their revenge by beating United in the transfer market.

However, reports today now suggest that Pep Guardiola is close to getting his own back on his old foe Jose Mourinho by beating him to one of his transfer targets,

Bothe clubs are interested in signing Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred, and according to Arab News, Manchester City have agreed a deal to bring him to the a Etihad.

Both clubs are keen to sign a new central midfielder in the coming month, with City wanting a long term replacement for Fernandinho, while United are looking to replace Michael Carrick, who has announced that he will retire at the end of the season.

The Brazilian midfielder has made 140 appearances for the Ukrainian club since moving from Internacional in 2013.
